Progress Update

I have not been crated at night for the last week and have done great! I sleep in my dog bed (although I would prefer to be in the bed) at the foot of my foster parents' bed and stay there all night. No accidents and I sleep all night---quiet as a mouse.

Foster mom is training me to come to a whistle to improve my recall skills. I figure if the labradoodle puppy that lives here can get it surely someone of my intelligence can pick it up as well.

Come see for yourself. You won't regret it.

Max's Snowy Day

Okay, so it isn't exactly a big snow but I still had tons of fun rolling around in it.

Welcome to my blog

Hello there and welcome to my blog. My name is Max but my foster mom calls me "Big Love". In typical weim fashion, I follow her everywhere hoping to get my ears rubbed some more. FM (foster mom) says it could be a full-time job :o)

I am approximately 6 years old and male. I am neutered, current on my vaccinations and started on heartworm prevention. I will also be microchipped prior to adoption. I have a cataract on my right eye which limits my vison on that side, but I do not let it hinder me at all. My left eye is fine. I am one stocky weimaraner. I weigh 74 lbs but am not very tall. I am the same size as my foster family's lab. Up until my foster mom picked me up I had spent my entire life outside. I was surrendered to rescue by my former family through no fault of mine.

I have a great temperament. Weimaraner and couch potato don't usually go together but in my case they should. I enjoy my daily walk but I am always the first in line to get back inside and on the couch for a snooze. You should hear me snore!!!!!!! The 3 other dogs here are crazy-----always wrestling and chasing each other. Although I get along quite well with them, I don't usually join in, it just isn't dignified for someone as sophisticated as I am. I also do fine with kids. Foster mom says NO CATS!!!!!!!!! Apparently, I like them too much :o)

I sleep in my crate at night and don't fuss too much as long as I know mom is close by. During the day, I don't want to go in and will let you know it. I do not use the bathroom in the crate and am learning not to go in the house. I have made great progress so far. I know "sit" and am working on "stay" , walking nicely on the leash and my recall skills.

So, if you are looking for a low energy weim that likes to eat (I LOVE raw carrots) and sleep, I am your guy. I am being fostered in Mt. Vernon, KY.
